Our Story
MOTHERS Art Gallery is a bi-coastal gallery in Down East Maine and Coastal California. Founded by Whitney Vosburgh and Heather Merriam to honor and celebrate all mothers of invention, including their own mothers, who are avid painters of the coast of Maine, New England, and California.

Whitney is a fourth generation artist, curator and antique dealer with experience in Asia, Europe and the Americas. Heather is a Yogini and Ayurvedic Health Counselor. We have a local and international eye having summered in Maine all our lives and lived around the world.
Our artists focus on waterscapes, landscapes and still lifes. Exteriors: Water, land, sky. Interiors: Flowers, fruit, vases.
We represent artists with a taste for timeless traditions and yet a fresh eye for contemporary flair/fresh feeling. We focus artistic excellence, natural beauty, etc.
We also present paintings by past masters from the Woodstock School (of Art) of landscapes and still lifes of mountains, forests, rivers, skies, and lived environments.
To capture the moment and magic of a certain time and place—exterior/landscape and interior/artistscape/space—all lived in environments by the artist/s.
We also stock carefully curated/select crafts, curiousities and antiques… which capture the magic of coastal America.
